Which  milling strategy  can we apply?

  • HPC full cut

  • HPC roughing

  • HSC side roughing (max speed)

  • HSC side finishing

  • Trochoidal milling

  • Milling in non-rigid conditions (MTC)

  • Schlichten allgemein

  • Schruppen allgemein

  • Rampenfräsen bis 15°

  • Eintauchen mit helix

  • Immersion 90°

Conventional or climb milling?

Only climb milling is permitted with Swissceramill

  • just needs to be milled

  • This is the only way Swissceramill works

Up-cut milling with Swissceramill

  • is not allowed

  • Swissceramill can break and pull out the part

Is cooling important?

We generally recommend always milling with coolant.

  1. Work with internal cooling and external cooling

  2. Work with internal cooling

  3. Work with external cooling

We recommend a high coolant pressure, preferably up to 70 bar.

If you want to work with lower cooling pressure, then you have to keep the speed and feed per count (fz) low at the beginning

Which geometries and shapes can be produced?

Our standard program is based on the following cutter shapes

  • Ceramic cutters with corner chamfers

  • Ceramic milling cutters with corner radii

  • Ceramic milling cutter half round

Which tool holders can be used?

We recommend all precision tool holders that are available on the market.

  • shrink chuck

  • Precise collets

  • power clamping fixtures

  • hydraulic expansion clamps

We do not recommend Weldon collets.

Can special shapes be produced?

Yes, all sorts of special shapes can be manufactured.

  • Ceramic milling cutter mit cutting length  with 3xd and more

  • Finishing cutters with 4, 5, 6, 7 or more cutting edges

  • Conical cutters

  • drilling tools

  • reamers

  • Special shapes according to DXF contours

Which machines are suitable  themselves  preferably?

Swissceramilll can be used on all CNC machines.

There are no limitations in terms of size or speed.

Swissceramill can be used for both high-performance milling and high-speed milling.

Regardless of the machine performance, Swissceramill can always be used to achieve the desired results.

At low speeds, the potential of the tool is not exploited, but it is much better than carbide tools in terms of surface quality and dimensional accuracy.

Swissceramill can be used on all CNC machines.

  • Machines with rpm 6,000 and higher

  • Machines with speeds of up to 100,000 rpm

The most common machines for high-performance machining (HPC) are machines with speeds of 6,000 - 30,000 rpm

  • Try to mill with medium feed and ae=1xd and ap=1.5xd (full slot milling)

  • Finishing possible with medium feed ae=0.05xd and ap=2xd

Most common machines in high speed milling (high speed cutting) are Mmachines with a speed of 30,000 - 100,000

  • Try milling full grooves with high feed and ae= 0.05-0.2xd and ap=0.1-0.5xd

  • Finishing with feed rate fz=0.02-0-06 ae=0.02xd and ap=2xd possible

For which industries  is Swissceramill well suited?

Swissceramill is highly recommended in the following industries and applications.

  • Contract manufacturing of medium and large series.

  • watch industry

  • jewelry industry

  • Manufacture of impellers

  • Manufacture of machine parts

  • aircraft industry

  • automotive industry

  • Machining of castings

  • Medical parts made of PEEK and other plastics

  • Manufacture of car rims

  • Manufacturing from Copper and graphite electrodes

  • Production of serial parts

If we haven't mentioned a specific industry, please write to use-mail.

What is the right procedure to start with Swissceramill?

First step

  • Select the milling strategy with which you want to mill

  • At the beginning, look at our recommended cutting data

  • Use our recommendation to get started with programming

  • Start a CAD/CAM simulation

  • Check the simulation for possible collision or other errors.

  • Start milling at 70-80% of the programmed feedrate

  • Increase feed rate to 100% or higher.

  • Different materials require different cutting parameters

  • If the tensile stress of a material is high, then (vc and fz) should be chosen lower.

  • Use white ceramic only with high pressure coolant

  • Green ceramic with coolant preferred but not necessary
